Hello and Welcome to Capital Hair Center

Post-operative care processes are very important to avoid inflammation and various complications after hair transplantation. Washing hair after hair transplantation is one of the most important issues in the post-operative process. So, how should the hair wash process be after the operation?

Regardless of the method, wound tissue takes two days to heal after hair transplantation. It is recommended that you wash your hair within 3 days after having the operation. If there is any sign of infection on the skin, the first wash should be performed after consulting with your doctor.

Washing your hair will help remove scabs and speed up the healing process. For the hair washing procedure, we will provide you with shampoo and lotion. You should begin the post-transplant hair washing process three days after the procedure and follow the instructions once a day for 15 days. If all scabs have been removed after 15 days, you can stop using lotion and wash with any shampoo.

Hair Wash in First and Second Week in Post Operative Process

After the first wash is done by the experts in the clinic, you will be told how to wash your hair in the following days. With the medical kit given by the clinic, you can also apply the hair washing process step by step after the third day. So, what are these steps?

Use Lotion in Two Weeks

Emollient lotion promotes skin cell regeneration, moisturizes the skin, and softens crusts. It should be applied in both the transplanted and donor areas at the same time by gently tapping on the affected surfaces. The lotion should be applied to the scalp for 30 minutes. Rinse your hair with temperate water after that. When applying the lotion, you must be very careful.

Apply Shampoo Gently

Applying medical shampoo is one of the most important steps in hair wash after the hair transplant operation. The medical shampoo is used to remove crusts and stimulate the healing process. After a half-hour wait for the lotion, take a foam shampoo in your hands and gently apply it to both the operated and donor areas. Before rinsing, leave the foam shampoo on for 2 or 3 minutes.

Rinsing

Use warm water to rinse your hair instead of hot water. A bowl can be used to pour water into your hair. You should thoroughly rinse your hair after using shampoo gently.

Drying Scalp

It is not recommended to use a towel for drying the recipient and donor area because a towel can damage your scalp area with its ungentle structure. However, you can use a hair dryer with its cold mode. Moreover, you can hold on hair dryer at a moderate distance.

What Can You Do in the Third and Fourth Week?

Scabbing can last for 20-30 days after a hair transplant. Apply 10-15 drops of lotion to the recipient area for 2 hours in this case. Massage to gently remove the scabs after applying lotion and washing with the recommended shampoo. You can repeat the process we described every day until the scabs disappear; once the scabs are gone, you can stop using the lotion. However, you must continue washing with the shampoo that we recommended to you.

What Could You Do If Your Scabs Cannot Heal?

If the scabs have not passed, first of all, review whether you have properly followed the hair washing steps given to you. If you are doing all the steps completely and the scabs still have not passed, you can contact your clinic again.
